Spin Up Resilience Challenge
Embark on this 5 Step Daily Challenge to build resilience by choosing to "spin up" after setbacks, inspired by real stories of overcoming loss like brain injuries and chronic illnesses.
1) Identify a Setback: Start your day by noting one recent challenge or loss (e.g., a personal failure, health issue, or emotional hit). Write it down briefly.
2) Grieve Mindfully: Set a timer for 5-10 minutes to acknowledge and feel the loss—cry, journal, or reflect without judgment. Accept what's gone.
3) Choose to Spin Up: Shift your mindset: Ask, "What do I still have, and how can I move forward with it?" Reframe the setback positively, like comparing it to something irreversible but manageable (e.g., balding vs. lung function)
4) Act and Recover: Take one small action toward progress (e.g., a short walk if facing physical limits). Track your recovery time—how quickly do you feel emotionally or psychologically steady?
5) Reflect on Practices: End the day by jotting down what helped your recovery (e.g., deep breaths, talking to a friend). Repeat daily to shorten recovery times and strengthen resilience.
